Cisema at the Hong Kong International Medical Device Regulatory Forum

Cisema participated in the Hong Kong International Medical Device Regulatory Forum, an event focused on the regulation of emerging technologies in the medical device sector.

The forum was jointly organized by the Department of Health (DH) and the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and held at the Hong Kong Science Park.

The event brought together approximately 200 representatives from local, mainland Chinese, and international regulatory authorities, as well as academic experts and industry leaders.

Discussions focused on the innovative development of medical devices and the regulation of artificial intelligence in healthcare technologies. Speakers examined how regulatory frameworks are adapting to rapidly evolving technologies such as AI-powered medical software and medical robotics.

Participants also emphasized the importance of clinical validation across diverse patient populations, particularly as AI-enabled technologies are increasingly deployed across global healthcare systems.

Updates from regulators in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia highlighted the growing importance of international regulatory collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by fast-moving digital health technologies.

The forum also addressed Hong Kong’s upcoming medical device legislation, which is expected within the next two years and will introduce a more comprehensive regulatory framework for medical devices.
