Public Consultation for the Directory of Claimed Health Functions Permitted for Health Food (I)(2019)
On 02.12.2019, the SAMR (State Administration for Market Regulation)released an amendment draft forthe 2019 version of theDirectory of Claimed Health Functions Permitted for Health Food (I)(No.205-2016). As revealed in the draft, the corresponding definitions of health functions and the supplement β-carotene were newly added in the directory. For functional health food and nutritional supplements, only claims on the health functions listed in the latest official directory can be made, in order to restrict manufacturers from misleading consumers in the China market.Currently, SAMR is publicly soliciting opinions on the amendment draft, and will remain open for public feedback until 31.12.2019.
