2020 Directory of Health Claims Approved for Health Food Expanded

On December 1, 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued (No.55 – 2020) the 2020 directory of health food raw materials and nutritional supplements with the approved health claims. The directory will become effective from March 1, 2021, onwards.

The corresponding definitions of health food functions and the supplement β-carotene were newly added in the directory. For functional health food and nutritional supplements, only health food function claims listed in the latest official directory can be made, in order to restrict manufacturers from misleading consumers in the Chinese market.
