32 Food Ingredients, Food Additives, and Food-Related Products Officially Approved in China

On March 1, 2022, the China NHC (National Health Commission) announced the approval of 2 new food ingredients, 11 new food additives, and 19 new food-related product varieties:

New food ingredients

• Kanzan flower
• Pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium (PQQ) salt

New food additives

• New varieties of enzyme preparations for food industry
  • Phospholipase A1,
  • Maltogenic amylase,
  • Glucose oxidase,
  • Lipase

• Expanded use of food additives:
  • Silica,
  • Carbon dioxide,
  • Turmeric,
  • Nisin,
  • Sucralose,
  • Vegetable carbon black

• Expanded use of processing aids for the food industry:
  • White mineral oil

New varieties of food-related products

• New varieties of food contact materials and products
  • Silicon dioxide coatings made from the monomers hexamethyldisiloxane and hexamethyldisilazane

• New varieties of additives for food contact materials and products (6 kinds):
  • 2-Propenoic acid, polymer with 2,5-furandione and 2-propenamide, sodium salt
  • 1,3,5-Triallyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6（1H,3H,5H）-trione
  • C16-18-Fatty acids, esters with pentaerythritol
  • Vitamin E (dl-α-Tocopherol acetate)
  • 1-Decene,homopolymer, hydrogeneated
  • Hexanedioic acid, polymer with 1,2-propanediol

• Additives for food contact materials and products expand the scope of use
  • Maltodextrin
  • C.I. pigment blue 15
  • C.I. pigment red 254
  • Carbon black

  • Polymer of cyclohexanedimethanol-1,4, ethylene glycol, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol, isophthalic acid, dimethyl terephthalate and trimellitic anhydride
• New varieties of disinfectant raw materials
  • Peroxyoctanoic acid
