New Penalties announced for Medical Device Violations in Beijing

On July 27, 2020 the Beijing MPA (Medical Products Administration) announced the implementation of a grading system for medical device violations:

  • This regulation is applicable to any illegal activities occurring during the development, production, operation and use of medical devices in Beijing.
  • There are three different levels of violations classified for the illegal activities:
    • A (high)
    • B (medium)
    • C (low)
  • The guidelines in the regulation addresses how illegal activities are classified into three levels and specifies the penalties for each levels of violations.

Although applicable only to Beijing, as a very influential MPA other provincial MPAs are likely to implement similar measures in future.
