NMPA issues the Cosmetics Classification Code Rules and Catalogue

On April 9, 2021, the NMPA (National Medical Products Administration) announced (No.49-2021) that the cosmetics classification rules and catalogue will come into effect on May 1, 2021.
Highlights
- From May 1, 2021, onwards, the applicants shall fill in the product classification code in accordance with the classification and coding rules for the filing or registration application for general cosmetics or special cosmetics respectively:
- Code for efficacy claims
- Code for intended body parts
- Code for intended group / age group
- Code for dosage form
- Code for intended use - For cosmetics that have been registered or filed prior to May 1, 2021, the applicants shall provide supplementary product classification codes through the new cosmetics registration and filing online platform before May 1, 2022.
